Google Street View Trekker – Mapping the Wilderness

Google Maps for the bush? Well, it kind of looks like it. It appears that Google has decided to extend its mapping project, which so far has given us the ability to map and view any street within a city, to locations where roads do not reach. With its portable mapping device, people can map out wilderness locations.

What does this mean for us. To some extent, it will remove some of the adventure and mystery out of being in areas away from civilization. Of course, none of us actually have to use. It will certainly revolutionize thru and section hiking. Upon completion of the project you would be able to view your entire trip before setting off.

I’m sure some people will love it, while others will hate it.
