You’ve heard about it, you’ve waited for it, and now it’s finally here. The Bear Grylls Survival Academy is now up and running.

The courses will range from three to six days in length, and will be held in Sutherland, Scotland. Contrary to what one might expect, the courses will not be thought by Bear Grylls himself. They are more what you would call Bear Grylls inspired. From what I hear the instructors attempt to teach techniques that have been used or performed by Bear Grylls on his TV shows. For the first class, Bear was there to great the students, but I don’t know if that will be something he does often.

Classes range in price from $2252 to $4828. I know it sounds like a very steep price, but keep in mind that for that money, you will be provided with a rat that you get to cook over an open fire. I joke of course. Well, not about the rat. You do get a rat to roast. The price of course is very high.

I am afraid reviews of the course will be rather meaningless to people. Those who love Bear Grylls will pay the money because the course has his name on it. Those who hate him will not go no matter how good the course is. For me personally, regardless of how I feel about Bear, there is no way I would spend that type of money (or anything even close to that) for a bushcraft or survival course of any sort, where people are thought the same handful of skills.

You can check out the Bear Grylls Survival Academy here. Please try to contain your excitement.
